The beauty of spoon carving requires just wood, two knives, saw and/or hatchet, and a place to sit - no vise, mallet, workbench, or noisy power tools needed. In this class, Kiko will provide blanks cut from green wood, and two basic blades (straight and curved), so that you can focus on practicing specific grips and the techniques that (eventually!) make the work easy and pleasant.

Repetition builds consistency, consistency builds confidence, confidence makes more beautiful chips and shavings, beautiful chips and shavings release beautiful spoons from beautiful trees! Your experience and questions help shape the class, but in general, Kiko will cover all the basics, including tool and material info, sharpening, sourcing wood, finishing, and design.

Age Requirement: This class is for adults and youth 12-17 if their parent or guardian is also registered for the class.
